Marie Ban was born on 8th February 1982 in Prague. After primary school she went to a high school which emphasised natural sciences. At the age of eighteen she passed her majors in biology, history and languages. Later she became a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where she studied with profesor Karel Stretti classical techniques of painting and restoration. On her first year she studied drawing and sculpturing and in the following years classical painting techniques, especially oil painting. She learned to paint portraits and figurative paintings. During this time she also began to discover and establish her own style of creation. Within the the academy course she also studied pigments chemistry, and for two years worked making copies of pictures from the baroque period at the National Gallery of Prague. In the fourth year she learned restoration of mural painting and baroque painting. Later on she decided to spend more time on her own paintings and moved to the School of Fine Arts at the University of Granada, Andalucia. Andalucia is still her place of residence. Now days she has a studio in a small city in the province of Málaga.

In her work Marie has various attitudes. She paints mainly pictures in oil with specific themes which spring from her inner visions and experiences influenced by a kind of universal symbolism, poetry and mysticism. She uses a very gentle and careful technique which utilises sets of various layers of colours. Her motifs reflect her interests in religion, philosophy and yoga and also her passion to discover other cultures and world visions which can deepen and expand her inspiration. Her intention is to paint pictures that can incite positive impressions which can awaken some profound emotions in the spectator. Her meaning is to present works that can take the observer to find a moment of calm; to forget all stresses, worries and problems of modern life. Another way of her work are the landscapes; often painted "alla prima", also in oil. They are quite realistic in form but with a coloration which incites an unexpected atmosphere and impression. She also uses pastel colours and drawing ink and occasionally paints portraits to order in a classical style. She worked for a few years in Prague in the restoration of antique pieces of furniture. She also made a copy of an altar painting for a rural church. She has executed other works, like the decoration of stages for musical events and of one beach bar. Already in Prague she met people who fell in love with her work and encouraged her to sell some of her paintings.since 2007 she has participated in various collective expositions in Spain. She is a member of Association of Malaga Artists APLAMA. In 2008 she made her first individual exposition in cultural space "Integrarte" in Malaga and later another one in Díaz-Oliva gallery. Also participated at symposium of Bohemian Arts in Andalucia, which organized gallery "La Femme" from Prague. Since this year she works with Agora Gallery from Chelsea, New York and virtual gallery www.Art-Mine.com.
